FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How does the DiskFan® cause the air to circulate in a room:
ANSWER: The DiskFan® has a patented fan blade and disk mounted on the shaft of a small electric motor. The fan blade causes the air to flow downward onto the disk which then causes the air to discharge as a thin stream, parallel to the ceiling, into the room's air. This thin donut shaped fast air stream moves outward from the edge of the disk and entrains the adjacent room's air. This causes the air in the entire room to slowly circulate which creates a uniform temperature in all parts of the room.
Does the DiskFan® have an air filtering system?
ANSWER: The DiskFan® incorporates a S70 60-80 PPI foam filter through which all of the room air flows as the fan draws in the air adjacent to the ceiling and re-discharges the air back into the room through the DiskFan®.
Are the DiskFan® foam filters easily replaceable?
ANSWER: The foam filters are a 4 inch wide foam belt that easily slides over the inlet grill of the DiskFan®. Each DiskFan® is shipped with 2 filters. Additional filters can be purchased as separate parts from DiskFan®. The filters can also be washed with a mild soap. The filters maintenance period will vary from several months to many months based on the amount of dirt in the air.
How large of a room will one DiskFan® provide good air circulation?
ANSWER: One DiskFan® will provide an excellent air circulation pattern in a 350 square foot room (15'x24') with a 9 foot ceiling height.
How noisy is the DiskFan®?
ANSWER: The DiskFan® has a two speed motor. At the high speed of 1680 RPM, the noise level 6 feet directly below the fan is 49.4 dBA. At the low speed of 1380 RPM, the noise level 6 feet directly below the fan is 46.6 dBA. A quiet conversation is about 60 dBA. A quiet sleeping room is about 45 dBA.
How many lights should the DiskFan® have?
ANSWER: The number of lights on the DiskFan® for a specific room are a matter of personal taste. Additional lighting is normally required for reading. The 2 to 4 light DiskFans would be used in smaller rooms such as bedrooms of 80 to 120 square feet. The 5 to 8 light DiskFans would be used in large bedrooms, family rooms, dining rooms, kitchens and any other rooms where both good lights and excellent air circulation are required. The light bulbs can be either a maximum of 60 watt incandescent or compact fluorescent. |
